October’s concert calendar starts off with a bang when two of the most iconic musicians, Beyoncé and Bob Dylan, perform in Kansas City on the first day of the month. But music lovers with big ears (and at least a few hundred dollars) can catch both the brilliant pop star and the famous bard – Dylan plays the second night at the Midland Theatre.
Although the audio onslaught continues during Halloween, the rest of the show may be several degrees less dazzling than the auspicious opening salvo. However, our other recommendations make a lot of sense.
They provide the excitement to catch some promising artists at the beginning of their careers. Domi and JD Beck’s debuts in Kansas City may become the stuff of legends. The young jazz-adjacent duo is on the rise quickly, and will open for Polyphia at the Uptown Theater on October 16. And, at just 23 years old, Samara Joy has already claimed what is likely to be a permanent spot at the top of the jazz world. The singer will appear at the Folly Theater on October 14.
Additional standout selections this month include bluegrass hero Billy Strings and violin virtuoso Hillary Hahn. From breakneck banjo tunes to twinkling violin glissandos, Kansas City concertgoers have plenty to see in October.
Beyoncé: October 1st

She also continues to dictate the artistic terms for the worlds of music and fashion. Very impressive dance songs like “break my soulFrom their 2022 album “Renaissance”, will be prominently featured in their elaborate stage show at the beginning of the month.
Bob Dylan: October 1 and 2

Notoriously esoteric and creatively restless, Bob Dylan Famously unpredictable. The legend’s so-called Never Ending Tour is one of the few aspects of his career that can be relied upon.
Now 82, Dylan is a true Rolling Stone. He has performed several times in the Kansas City area, including three concerts in Midland in this millennium. This performance is the first performance of a new phase of Dylan’s “Rough and Rowdy Ways” tour.
Given that their career has been characterized by reinvention and constant change, the enigmatic veteran is likely to offer Kansas City some new twists on songs old and new.
Boris: 7 October

boris Works under orders to make the slushiest, heaviest rock imaginable. The trio’s approach makes light of heavy metal pioneers like Black Sabbath. As if to emphasize their irreconcilability, three of Boris’s more than 25 albums are titled “Heavy Rock”.
This commitment to dark noise has resulted in a small but fierce following. The Japanese band’s cult status is shared by one of its primary reference points. The band’s name was inspired by opening track From the Melvins’ 1991 album, “Bullhead”.
