The Extremadura Health Service (SES) called more than 7,000 women in the region for mammograms in June 2024 as part of a program for the early detection of breast cancer. It is planned that more than 3,800 users will take the test in two mobile units of the program, which will visit twenty cities in the region this month. The rest – more than 3,500 women from the most populated areas – will be examined at specialized SES centers. Since January, the Department of Health and Human Services’ announcement to raise the eligibility age for the program by one year has been implemented, meaning women as young as 49 will be included, even those with no family history. The mobile units will begin their tour next Monday, June 3, in the town of Talarrubias in Badajoz, and then continue their routes in La Moeda, Berlanga, Valdefuentes, Albala, Ajillones, Torre de Santa Maria, Zarza de Montaches, Fuente del Arco. , Torremocha, Puebla del Maestre, Trasierra, Torreorgas, Llerena, Torrequemada, Monroy, Talavan, Riolobos, Valdeobispo and Llera.
