Avatar 3 and 4 will be ‘crazy’ and James Cameron has ideas for 5 and 6

Original Avatar The film was released in 2009 and has since become the highest-grossing film in cinema history. It took a while, but the film finally spawned a franchise with a sequel. Avatar: The Way of Water will be released in 2022 and will be third highest grossing film of all time. Disney certainly licks parts 3, 4 and 5.

Zoe Saldana, who plays Na’vi warrior Neytiri, recently said: Collider What Avatar 3 — due out in 2025 — will be “amazing.” WITH Avatar 4 and 5, “It’s just maddening.” She is very impressed by screenwriter and director James Cameron. He amazed us. This is his legacy project. We all thought it was Titanicand it turned out that Avatar is his legacy, and for us to be a part of something so innovative and groundbreaking, it’s like it’s a legacy for us too. So I’m glad to be back. We’re back to work next week, so I’m looking forward to seeing everyone.”

Cameron has starred in a number of classic films, not only Avatar And Titanic but also Aliensfirst twoTerminator movies and much more. He’s such a legendary director that some wonder if he’s limiting himself by sticking exclusively to Avatar franchise these days. Or at least you realized he was asked about it when he brought it up during an interview with PEOPLE. “People always ask us, ‘So why did you keep working in the same…'” he said. “Why did (George) Lucas continue to work in the same direction? Why did (Gene) Roddenberry keep working in the same direction? Because when you communicate with people, why would you waste it? Why would you start over with something else that might not match?”

I mean, I can think of a few reasons why a creative person might want to branch out and try something different, but it’s clear that Cameron is committed to growing Avatar Universe. “(We’re) still a young universe,” he said. “We only have two films, we are now halfway through the third. To have that kind of cultural impact over time, you have to put all your heart and energy into it.”

“We’ve written the fifth film completely, and I have ideas for a sixth and seventh film, although I’ll probably pass the baton at this stage. I mean, mortality is catching up with us. But I mean we enjoy what we do. We like it. We work with great people.”

This is the first time I’ve heard about this avatars 6 And 7. Since Cameron is now 69 years old, it wouldn’t be surprising that he would consider passing the torch if the franchise reaches that point. We could watch Avatar films for the next few decades, if this continues.

Avatar 3 will be released on December 19, 2025 along with the rest Avatar After that, films come out pretty consistently. It’s possible that this timeline could be thrown off a little with news that special effects artists working on the films have voted to unionize and join the International Alliance of Theatrical Workers, but as long as Disney is being fair with the people it employs, shouldn’t be a problem.

Ultimately, Cameron believes continued success Avatar proves that “humans are naturally empathetic,” which seems like a big takeaway based on the popularity of the blue alien movie franchise, but I like the sentiment. “Our film is actually dystopian in a way, but it’s about beauty, it’s about connection, it’s about positive values, and it seems to work,” he said. “And what does this tell us about us? What about people all over the world? Because the films are successful in all markets and all over the world. And so I think that gives us strength.”
