Increase in cases reported malaria in Keonjhar district, Joda, Orissa, India in a few years without notice.
Last month, the district recorded nine positive cases and this month, six people were suspected to have been infected in Joda district in three days.
Malaria has started spreading again in the Joda region since the start of the monsoon season this year.

- 2023. Odisha was the state that reported the highest number of cases (41,971 and 4 deaths). It is followed by Chhattisgarh (31,713), Jharkhand (31,140), West Bengal (26,493), Tripura (22,412), Maharashtra (16,164) and Uttar Pradesh (13,585). The annual parasite index (API), which fell to 0.52 in 2022, increased to 0.93.

An increase in the number of cases was reported in Mangalore (a low-risk city): 5,000 cases till July 2014.
