BBVA-SABADELL MERGER | Aragones, faced with a possible merger between BBVA and Sabadell, is concerned about a decline in the supply of businesses and job losses.

He said this at a press conference on Monday. in which he assured that he was “closely” monitoring the development of this possible operation.. “The Generalitat cannot interfere in the approval of this possible merger, but obviously we are concerned about the negative consequences it could have,” he said.

Thus, he argued that Catalonia needs more supplies from financial institutions because the concentration “could prevent Catalan companies from accessing credit”. He also stressed that it is necessary that “important decisions” of the Catalan entities are taken in Catalonia.
