Meta aims to make WhatsApp familiar and easy to navigate, and the company says its ethos is to keep the instant messaging app fresh, accessible and simple. Outstanding developments, which in some cases appeared gradually and among which AI integration in an application that is used daily and constantly by millions of people around the world.
In recent months, WhatsApp has been steadily and quietly introducing many new features that have gradually surprised millions of users. Among these additions, a few stand out, such as the iOS-style bottom navigation bar on Android devices or the green color replacing blue in some buttons. Changes that gradually aim to unify the design between Android and iOS, which is getting closer to being achieved.

WhatsApp is looking to modernize the app with the following changes:
- New color palette: The green color that dominated the header has disappeared, the design is less overloaded with colors and in which green color predominates, but in some buttons, notifications… In addition, the dark mode has become darker, which allowed us to achieve the Goal at the request of users.
- Updated icons and illustrations.: Redesign of the icons and other visual elements we use and display in chats.
- Simplified navigation: The tabs that were previously at the top (Chats, statuses and calls) have moved to the bottom.
- Better chat management: Filters to make navigation easier and allow us to directly see those chats we haven’t read yet or the groups we belong to.
- Search powered by Meta AI: The Meta AI assistant is coming to WhatsApp, and while it is not yet known what we can do with it from within the app, it is possible that it could help us with generating images, performing searches, and asking questions about our chats.
