Steam is bringing Ghost of Tsushima back to countries where PlayStation Network is unavailable

Steam will automatically issue refunds for canceled Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut pre-orders in countries where the PlayStation Network is unavailable.

Sucker Punch announced last week that the PC version of its open-world action title won’t require a PSN account for the campaign, although Legends’ online co-op mode will require one. Interestingly, this announcement came at almost the same time that Helldivers 2 was removed from Steam in 177 countries.

Now, although it is unknown whether proactively or at Sony’s request, digital stores such as Steam or Green Man Gaming are automatically canceling and refunding bookings in countries where Sony’s service is not available.

On Steam, victims are offered a message that “you are receiving a refund for the pre-order of the Ghost of Tsushima game you pre-ordered. The publisher of this game now requires an additional account to play some parts of this game and this account cannot be created from your country.

As of now, neither Sucker Punch nor Sony have made any official statements explaining the reason for these returns.

The PC version of Ghost of Tsushima will go on sale on PC on May 16 next year. The PC port was developed by Nixxes, and in the case of the Director’s Cut, it includes both the base game and the Iki Island expansion.
