The new fee increase will result in some customers having to pay €5 more per month.
Movistar started the year with a general price increase, which meant an average increase in customer monthly payments of 3.1%. Now returns to battle with another increasebut this time it only applies to those who have made certain bets.
The new price increase is mainly due to Movistar Plus+ sports content. Affected customers were informed two months ago but come into effect today, 13 May.
Next, we will tell you in which plans the subscription fee increases and, most importantly, how much will they cost now. And be careful as this affects several miMovistar packages as well as some Movistar Fusion plans.
Increase 5 euros per month
If you thought that the price increase proposed by Movistar in January would be the only one this year, you were wrong. From today, May 13th, on some Movistar Plus+ tariffs the monthly fee will increase by at least 5 euros.
Specifically, this new price increase affects plans and packages that include Sports content Movistar Plus+. The operator justifies this by increasing costs:
“At Movistar, our priority is to maintain the level of quality of our services, invest in providing the best connectivity in the market and a first-class content offering, despite rising costs in the sector.”
And what are the affected tariffs? First of all, two TV packages that you can purchase at miMovistar rates and cancel at any time:
- Engine package: I used to have a fee of 10 euros per month, but now it costs 15 euros per month. This includes Formula 1 on DAZN F1, as well as the entire MotoGP World Championship on DAZN 1, DAZN 2, DAZN 3 and DAZN 4, as well as the Hunting and Fishing channel.
- General sports package: Previously I had a fee of 19 euros per month, but now it costs 24 euros per month. Includes all DAZN content except DAZN LaLiga (Formula 1, MotoGP, Premier League, Women’s football, etc.), in addition to the Endesa League, exclusively Euroleague and NBA, Wimbledon, Roland Garros, Augusta Masters, Ryder Cup, LIV Golf League…
The operator confirmed to us that the cost of other television packages will not increase. This includes everything from the basic Movistar Plus+ package (which will still cost €12 per month) to the Total Fiction, Cinema, Champions, LaLiga and Fútbol Total packages, in addition to a Disney+ subscription.
In addition to these two miMovistar packages there is increase 5 euros per month In the six Fusion plans, all of them have been discontinued, although there are still customers who continue to support them:
- Total X2: goes from 177 to 182 euros per month.
- Total Plus: goes from 191 to 196 euros per month.
- Total Plus X4: pass from 208 to 213 euros per month.
- Total Plus with 4 lines: goes from 218 to 223 euros per month.
- Total Plus X2 with 4 lines: varies from 230 to 235 euros per month.
- Total Plus X4 with 4 lines: varies from 235 to 240 euros per month.
In this case, the price increase will affect those existing customers who had contracts with Fusion’s old fiber, mobile and TV plans. If you want to avoid this, we recommend upgrading to the miMovistar tariff, which is more flexible and allows you to order only the content you need.
