Developers Fallout 4 released a new patch called “Second new generation update” which includes new graphics capabilities for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions of the video game. The developer wants to allow us to “control the level of graphical fidelity and performance” of the video game, although they “strongly recommend” using the default settings. In this sense, the official notes about the update left a somewhat strange feeling.

According to the official explanation BethesdaFrom now on, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series users will be able to select target frame rate between 30, 40 and 60. In addition, they will be able to choose between prioritize performance or visual quality so that “internal resolution is dynamically adjusted when scenes or actions are too heavy.” The strange thing about all this is that, despite the game being released nine years and a generation ago, the developer recommends “selecting performance when setting the target to 60 FPS.”
In addition to these new graphical changes, the new Fallout 4 update includes several bug fixes, including HDR activation on Xbox Series consoles. The developer has not provided any additional information about this update, which, while interesting, may not meet fans’ expectations. Some known bugs associated with this (eg 0% VAT accuracy on Xbox) still occur. Expected options, such as adjusting the viewing angle, also did not appear.
It’s unclear whether Fallout 4 will continue to receive updates over the next few weeks, although I hope Bethesda continues to work on the video game. at least until the most problematic errors are eliminated.
