The decline in home sales in March compared to the same period last year was due to both a fall in transactions for the purchase of new apartments, which decreased by 14% compared to the same period last year, up to 8917, as well as for used houses. In March, they decreased by 20.5% year on year, to 35,961 transactions.
93% of homes listed for sale in March were free and 7% were secured. Total purchase and sale of houses free fall fell 18.5% year on year, to 41,741 transactions, and the purchase and sale of subsidized housing dropped by 28.8%, amounting to 3,137 transactions.
On a month-to-month basis (March versus February), home sales and purchases fell 15%, compared with a 5.6% decline in the first three months of 2024, with a 3% increase for new homes. and a 7.6% decrease in the number of homes used.
Navarre (3.4%) and Cantabria (0.3%) recorded the only positive year-on-year variations in the total number of properties transferred in March. For their part, Andalusia, the Balearic Islands (both -26.6%) and the Murcia region (-26.1%) showed the lowest figures.
