eat stones and pizza with glue

From eating rocks to putting glue on pizza. An issue going viral on social media is finding errors in Google Review, Google’s new artificial intelligence feature for search only available in the United States, showing that this new feature needs to be more robust before it becomes available to the public. The potential for large numbers of hits on social media has even led to some users falsifying search results.

In one of the most famous searches, a user was looking for how to make cheese stick to his pizza, and the algorithm found an 11-year-old Reddit post that suggested putting glue on it as a tongue-in-cheek joke. The AI did not understand the meaning of the publication and did not rate this proposal as nonsense.

Another user shared false and very dangerous information that attributed to scientists that “staring at the sun for 5-15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes if you have darker skin, is generally safe and has the greatest health benefits.” In another absurdity, the Review recommended that a user “eat at least one small rock a day” because “rocks are a vital source of minerals and vitamins,” and contributor Barack Obama used Google’s artificial intelligence to discover that this former American president was a Muslim.

There are a lot of crazy responses, but not everything that is published is true. Google claims that some people have gone so far as to manipulate search results, such as in the case of depression, which suggested jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, which is about 75 meters high, as a remedy. Google US representatives have indicated to several media outlets that have repeated this nonsense that the company is already working to correct such incorrect results.

Google is bound to introduce new developments in the field of generative artificial intelligence, while OpenAI’s alliance with Microsoft – and perhaps in a couple of weeks with Apple – gives it strong competition. Google is the king of search, used by about 2 billion people, but AI could change that. Some publications suggest that OpenAI is working on a search engine. In fact, Microsoft has also bundled its own Bing with ChatGPT capabilities.

Haste has its price. In February 2023, during a Google Bard AI talk chat presentation, he offered incorrect information about the James Webb Space Telescope, causing the company to lose $100 billion in stock valuation.
