Starliner prepares for arrival at the International Space Station :: NASANET

After several delays, the Starliner spacecraft was finally launched yesterday, Wednesday, June 5, at 14:52 GMT from Space Force Station Space Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral in Florida on an approximately one-week mission to the International Space Station. This is Boeing’s first manned test flight. Traveling aboard the spacecraft are astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, who, after 24 hours in orbit, are preparing to arrive at the orbital complex today, Thursday.

The Starliner spacecraft will autonomously dock at the ISS Harmony module forward port at approximately 16:15 GMT on Thursday, June 6, and will remain in the orbiting laboratory for approximately a week.

Wilmore and Williams will help ensure the spacecraft is performing as intended by checking the environmental control system, displays and control system, as well as engine maneuvering and other flight tests.

After safely arriving at the space station, Wilmore and Williams will join the Expedition 71 crew of NASA astronauts Michael Barratt, Matt Dominick, Tracy K. Dyson and Jeanette Epps, and Roscosmos cosmonauts Nikolai Chub, Alexander Grebenkin and Oleg Kononenko.
