IPC Murcia | CPI rose to 3.8% in Murcia region in May
The consumer price index (CPI) rose to 3.8% in the Murcia region in May, year-on-year. According to the final data published this Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), the figure is six tenths higher than the figure recorded in the previous month.
With the onset of May, Interannual rates in the region are increasing again after declining in April. In monthly terms, inflation increased by 0.4%, while since the beginning of the year the increase reached 2.5%.
Food inflation fell to 4.4% in May, while oil inflation is still at 62.8%.
Prices in Murcia increased the most compared to the same month of the previous year for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels. 5.9% more than in May 2023 (+1.2 points compared to the interannual figure recorded in the previous month); restaurants and hotels – 5.5% more (+0.7 points); transport – 4.7% more (+0.8 points), food and non-alcoholic drinks – 4.2% more (+0.3 points).
On the opposite side, Where prices have fallen year on year is for furniture, household items household maintenance items – -0.5% (+0.3 points compared to the previous month) and communications equipment – -0.3% (-0.1 points).
Nationally, the consumer price index rose 0.3% in May from the previous month. and increased the interannual rate by 0.3 points, to 3.6%.
At the end of May, the highest CPI values were found in Galicia (4%), Euskadi (3.9%) and the Balearic Islands (3.8%). On the opposite side were Melilla (2.9%), Ceuta (3.4%) and the Canary Islands (3.4%).
