After a week of using the first iOS 18 beta on my iPhone, I was able to draw conclusions, test all the functions and determine whether it is advisable to install this version on the iPhone. With noticeable changes in several key areas, significant improvements and small details, this is one of the best versions Apple has ever released. And this is only the first beta.
The first beta version usually does not include all the features, but it does include the vast majority. Regarding the performance, it surprised me too, although it is true that in aspects such as the battery I have some problems and this is exactly what leads me to I recommend waiting to install itbut I’ll tell you about this later.

Lots of new features, great stability and poor battery life.
One of the things I liked most was redesign of the Control Center. Now it is customizable and each user can adapt it to their liking. The ability to place many more controls in your preferred order and size is a big plus. In my case, I installed a large widget for Apple Music, connection controls, brightness and volume controls, focus modes, and a shortcut for camera and screen recording. Everything I need is organized the way I want and on one screen..

Another aspect that caught my attention the most was Photos app redesign. I have to admit this was one of the last things I researched because the change overwhelmed me, but it ended up being one of my favorite new things. First of all, the interface has completely changed. You can set the photos to be displayed in groups of five or three. You can also attach whatever you want at the top, I attached my favorite photos. Now we have a section that Sort photos by recent days, automatically created collections, or photos that the app deems important appear below the main ones, and you can edit how they are displayed.. We also have a new “Utilities” section, in which, for example, recipes (photos of dishes) or documents appear.
The feature that surprised me is the ability Lock or hide apps with Face ID, Touch ID or passcode. For example, one of the apps I blocked was Photos, and this block also applies to third-party apps when they request access. When you hide an application, it goes to a folder in the App Library called Hiddenwhich is protected by Face ID or whatever method you used.

Finally, although not for me, personalization has appeared on the home screen with a button the ability to freely place icons, following the imaginary grid we have had so far, or change the color of the icons. Another new thing for me is new Passwords appbased on iCloud Keychain, which appeared many years later in the Settings app.
Do I recommend installing the first beta version of iOS 18?
My answer is no. It is never recommended to install the beta version on your main device as it is a development version and bugs may occur. The first beta version works well; Applications do not close, there are practically no delays, with the exception of some cases of typing on the keyboard.
battery Perhaps this is the aspect that causes me the most problems, because in recent days It got much worse.. This is one of the reasons why I cannot recommend installing it in my personal case.
I recommend only installing the beta version if you are willing to admit mistakes that may occur, as well as battery wear. Be patient and wait for the next beta, because installing it and then switching back to iOS 17 from iOS 18 may not be the best plan.
