OpenAI suspends launch of its voice assistant due to security concerns
The advanced voice technology was first introduced in May, but its launch was delayed by a month.
OpenAI has decided to postpone the launch of its project new voice assistant with artificial intelligence (AI) because security testing takes more time to complete.
Last month, ChatGPT demonstrated “advanced voice assistant” technology that eerily reminiscent of human emotional reactions and it worked almost in real time.
OpenAI said it will introduce voice technology to a small group of ChatGPT Plus users. At the end of Junebut he told X on Tuesday that he “needs another month” to make the launch happen.
“We are improving the model’s ability detect and reject specific content. “We are also working to improve the user experience and prepare our infrastructure to scale to millions of users while maintaining real-time responses,” the company said.
It may be delayed even further
OpenAI noted that it is possible that an advanced voice assistant won’t be out until fall and that the exact timing is contingent on maintaining “high standards of safety and reliability.”
“ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Assistant can understand and respond with emotions and non-verbal cues that bring us closer to natural, real-time communication with the help of artificial intelligence,” the company added. “Our mission is to thoughtfully bring you this new experience.”
OpenAI also faced lawsuit from actress Scarlett Johansson for allegedly copying her voice for one of her AI characters named Skye, which was similar to the voice of Johansson’s AI assistant played in the movie Her.
Sam Altman, CEO and co-founder of OpenAI, denied the accusations.
