Warren Buffett bequeaths his fortune to a charitable foundation

New York (EFE) – Investor Warren Buffett, one of the richest men on the planet, told The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) that when he dies he will leave his fortune to a new charitable foundation controlled by his children.

The 93-year-old, who owns nearly $130 billion in Berkshire Hathaway shares, told the publication that his three children must unanimously decide which charities the money will be used for.

“I feel very, very good about the values ​​of my three children and I trust them 100 percent to see this through,” the 10th-richest person on Forbes’ list told the WSJ in an interview published Friday.

The billionaire has already given away more than half of his Berkshire shares.

Although billions from his empire went to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Buffett told the newspaper that once he dies, he will stop donating to the foundation.

From 2006 to 2023, Buffett donated $39.3 billion to the Gates Foundation, according to his website.

Buffett said he did not give orders to his children Susie, 71, Howie, 69, and Peter Buffett, 66, about what to do with his legacy.
