Our new kit pays tribute to the memorable 1995/96 campaign when we won the legendary Double and won the League Championship and the Copa del Rey.
In the season of the return of the 1947 shield, a symbol of pride and belonging for all of Atlético, our new home kit pays tribute to an absolutely glorious moment in our history, in which we played a major role while wearing this shield on our chest: the 1995/96 championship campaign to achieve the Double.
Combining tradition and modernity, the new shirt has a blue collar and elegant lines alternating between thick red and white stripes that run parallel vertically throughout the garment, with red and blue colours that alternate and combine in subtle gradients. Lines that take us back to the legendary kit of the season, the “Doublet”, and especially to the special shirt worn in the cup final against Barcelona.
In the match against Barça on 10 April 1996 in La Romareda (Zaragoza), we were crowned champions of the knockout tournament thanks to an unforgettable header by Milinko Pantić in the final period of extra time, which allowed us to win 0-1. We thus laid the first stone of the double, which culminated a month and a half later, with a 2-0 victory over Albacete at the Calderón in the last match of the championship, thanks to two goals from our current coach Diego Pablo Simeone and Francisco Narváez “Kiko”.
