Google Pixel 9 rumored to be more expensive than ever. New names always cost a lot
Upgrading to the XL model to get the best Pixel has an obvious cost: another €100.
Google is changing its strategy a bit with its Pixels in 2024. Rumor has it that they want to be more like Apple and Samsung than ever, which means there won’t be just two high-end models anymore. The Pixel 9 will be positioned like the iPhone 16, the Pixel 9 Pro will be positioned like the iPhone 16 Pro, and the Pixel 9 Pro… XL will be positioned like the Pro Max.
The new XL family name, which is being introduced to expand the family and which, as we usually see every time a manufacturer introduces a new family name, will go hand in hand with rising prices.

According to leaks, these are the new prices for the Google Pixel 9 family. The Pixel 9 retains the Pixel 8 price: €799. The upgrade to 256GB is not too expensive, only €60 more.
The Google Pixel 8 Pro prices also remain the same for the Pixel 9 Pro, which starts at €1,099. Until then, everything continues as it did last year, with one very important caveat: buy the Google Pixel 9 Pro. It no longer means buying the best pixel families.
If we want the largest model, we will now have to go to the XL model, with a starting price of €1,199 for the 256GB version and €1,299 for the 512GB version. Given that the Pro XL model will a priori be nothing more than a larger Pro, the transfer of the family name is the perfect plan to raise prices.
At the moment, these are leaked prices that have not been confirmed by Google. Although if competition has taught us anything, it’s that every time a new name is born, a new starting price is born.
