Airfare fell 0.9% in June, the ninth month in a row.

Airlines operating in Spain cut ticket prices by 0.9% in June from a year earlier, marking nine months of decline after a 2% rise in October 2023.

This is evidenced by the final data obtained Servicemedia on the June consumer price index, which showed a 7.8% decrease in prices for international flights, thus continuing the downward trend that began last November following the increase in international flights from June 2022.

In fact, in both July and August of that year, they grew by more than 20%, which was their historical record. Before, International airfare prices have nearly solidified a 21-month downward streak since the start of the pandemic, which only broke out in December 2021, with a slight recovery of 0.2%.

For their part, national banknotes rose 12.3% in June and have now risen for two months after seven straight months of decline. Last year they also fell in May, April and January. Aena network airports closed June with a historic record again, welcoming 29,443,093 passengers, 11.1% more than the same month in 2023.

Of the total number of travellers in June, 20,460,582 travelled on international flights, up 12.8% from June 2023, and 8,919,868 travelled on domestic flights, up 7.5% from last year.
