Banned from air for sexist comment

A veteran Eurosport commentator has caused controversy after making an unfortunate sexist comment on the swimming commentary last Saturday 27th. It all came after Shayna Jack, Molly O’Callaghan, Meg Harris and Emma McKeon, members of the Australian team, won the gold medal in the women’s 4×100 freestyle.

Bob Ballard, a commentator with more than four decades of media experience, jokingly stated: “They’re finishing. You know what women are like, always hanging out, putting on makeup…”to which her broadcasting partner Lizzie Simmonds immediately responded by calling him “scandalousBob’s words.

The clip went viral on social media and given the topicality of the topic, Network Removes Ballard From Olympic Broadcasts for an inappropriate comment, for which the author quickly apologized via his social networks.

Bob Ballard apologizes on his social media.

“The comments I made offended people, which was never my intention, and I want to apologise for that. I am a big supporter of women’s sport and will miss the Eurosport team very much. Best of luck in the remaining games. I will not be making any more comments. Thank you.”
