Israel claims it has killed dozens of fighters in Khan Younis and Der al-Bala

The Israeli army assured this Friday that it had killed dozens of alleged Hamas fighters in “hand-to-hand combat” in Khan Yunis, in the south of Gaza, and Deir al-Bala in the center, two cities where it is in the offensive. The military is now focused. For this reason, it has ordered the evacuation of civilians from several areas, minimizing the “humanitarian zone”.

“Over the past day, in the Khan Younis area and the outskirts of Deir al-Bala, troops killed dozens of terrorists and destroyed dozens of terrorist infrastructure sites,” a military statement said.

The air force struck nearly 30 Hamas military targets across the strip in the past 24 hours, including “military posts, weapons depots and (rocket) launching points”, mainly in Khan Younis.

The Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis reported this morning that it had received four bodies, including a child, in an attack against a group of people in the town of Abasan; while Palestinian media reported bombing in the Suheila area, where the army ordered a fresh evacuation of the civilian population yesterday.

So far in August, Israel has issued 12 evacuation orders, mainly in the Khan Younis area, but also in Deir al-Balah; which has forced nearly 250,000 people to be displaced, according to figures released by the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA). “Families move again and again amid military operations and the summer heat, carrying what they can. There is no escape from this exhausting cycle in the Gaza Strip,” he denounced in X.

Simultaneously, with the dire humanitarian situation in Khan Yunis and Deir al-Balah, Israeli troops continue their offensive, now with reduced intensity, in Rafah, on the southern edge of the enclave, after announcing two days ago that they had already defeated Hamas’s Rafah Brigade; although today they indicated that several “terrorists” were killed in the Tel al-Sultan neighborhood.

Palestinian media also reported attacks in the past hours in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the center; in Beit Lahiya, in the north of the enclave; and in the Zaytun neighborhood, in Gaza City. (EFE)
