Sony Changes Terms of PlayStation Stars Program

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced changes to the terms of the PlayStation Stars program.

In a message sent to users today, the Japanese company warned that new terms and conditions will need to be accepted from October 24, the most important change being that points will now expire twelve months after they are earned.

Meanwhile, the current balance you have as of October 24th will expire in twenty-four months.

These aren’t the only changes. From March 1, 2025, Sony will change the terms again, in this case affecting purchases that add points. From that date, payments for subscriptions made through your digital store, including PlayStation Plus subscription renewals, will no longer add points to our account.

These new terms will need to be accepted when logging into PlayStation Stars starting October 24, otherwise you will not be able to earn points for PlayStation Stars.

PlayStation Stars is a rewards program that allows you to earn digital collectibles by playing a variety of games, as well as earn points that can be redeemed for PlayStation Store credit or select downloadable games.
