The identity of the creator of Bitcoin has always been a mystery. HBO promises to reveal this very soon.
In 2008, someone under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto revealed his creation to the world: Bitcoin. This cryptocurrency ultimately caused a unique revolution in our economy, but the true identity of its creator was never revealed. Now a new theory has emerged that promises to solve this mystery.
An HBO documentary has the answer.. As Politico reports, a new HBO documentary claims to provide the answer to this unique mystery. The production is the latest from Cullen Hoback, the Emmy-nominated and well-reviewed TV series Q: Into the Storm, in which he revealed the identities of the members of the group Qanon.
Next week we’ll find out. The documentary premieres next Tuesday at 9:00 pm EST (Wednesday at 3:00 am on the Spanish mainland). Identity disclosure can have a unique impact on financial markets. This could also influence the upcoming US elections, with both candidates favoring cryptocurrencies.
Satoshi is a billionaire. The creator of Bitcoin controls (at least) 1.1 million Bitcoins, but it is unclear whether he still has access to the keys that will give him access to this fortune. The current value of these cryptocurrencies will be around $66 billion.
Wallets that are reactivated. Something interesting has happened in recent weeks. Several wallets used to store these cryptocurrencies have been dormant since 2009, but are just now seeing some movement. Over the past two weeks, approximately 250 bitcoins ($15 million) have been seized from these wallets. There is no evidence that these wallets remained with Nakamoto, but they have never been moved since Bitcoin came into being.
Where is Satoshi? Nakamoto’s real identity has always been a big mystery. The creator of Bitcoin usually appeared through email and discussion forums, but he disappeared from the scene completely in 2010 and it is unclear whether he is still alive.
Others could not identify him. In 2014, a Newsweek journalist believed she had solved the mystery, but her theories were soon disproven. The same thing happened in 2016, when Justice eventually made it clear that Craig Wright, the cryptographer who declared himself the creator of Bitcoin, was not him. The expert is currently accused of giving false testimony.
