On Tuesday, the Menorca Health Zone began flu campaignmarked this year by the pilot plan vaccinate again in schoolss in particular in five schools in Menorca, starting next Monday.
Menorca received first batch of 12,890 units to begin treatment of the target group of 47,734 peoplewhich includes all persons over 60 years of age, Minorcan residents over 12 years of age suffering from diseases associated with risk, pregnant women, smokers, health and social care professionals, as well as workers in essential public services and people working on farms . . or poultry, pig or wildlife farms.
The first people to receive both flu and Covid vaccinations this Tuesday were 44 users of the residence and day center Es Ramal de Alaior and then the users of the center of San Miguel de Ciutadella. From Wednesday to Friday, IB-Salut nurses will complete vaccinations in the remaining nursing homes and day centers.
Starting next week, professionals from the Menorca health district, the target population, will be vaccinated and universal vaccination for children from 6 to 59 months (4 years and 11 months), given that in this age group they are more likely to get the flu and are also usually the main carriers. Children under two years old are vaccinated with one dose, and children from 2 to 5 years old – the vaccine will be an intranasal influenza vaccine.
In five schools
A school vaccination campaign for children born between 2019 and 2021 starts next Monday, with the aim of “improve outreach to at-risk groups and promote reconciliation families without having to go to a health center. There are five participating schools in Menorca: Mare de Déu de Gràcia and Mare de Déu del Carme de Mao; Castel de Santa Agueda de Ferreris; Dr. Comas de Alaior; and Pintor Torrent de Ciutadella.
By appointment and without appointment
The target population can register for vaccination at health centers in all municipalities of Menorca. Likewise, from November 4 two mobile vaccination points. These are the Mateu Orfila Hospital in Mao (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 8:30 to 13:30 and Tuesday and Thursday from 15:30 to 20:00) and the medical center. Salad channel of Ciutadella (Monday to Friday from 15:30 to 20:00 and on Saturdays from 8:30 to 15:00).
As part of this entire flu vaccination campaign, the Menorca Health Zone will strengthen primary care nursing teams with the hiring of four nurses and two assistants.
