Pau Gasol ‘sincerely thanks’ his friend Nadal: ‘One of my best reviews’

Former basketball player Pau Gasol dedicated some nice words to his friend Rafa Nadal, announcing this Thursday the retirement of the tennis player, whom he thanked “from the bottom of my heart” for being “a constant source of inspiration” and one of his best examples.

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Rafa Nadal. Throughout my career, you have been a constant source of inspiration and one of my top recommendations, both on and off the court. Having you as a friend made this journey even more special. I can’t wait to see you lead by example again at the Davis Cup. “I love you very much, friend,” he wrote on his social network “X”.

It was only a matter of time before Gasol, a two-time NBA champion and Spanish basketball legend, reacted after sharing many great tennis moments on the spot. The former Barça or Lakers player has been to Paris and London more than once to witness Nadal’s great victories, just as the tennis player attended some of the finals of Gasol’s career.

In addition, both have joined forces on several occasions as ambassadors of Spanish sport and in support of Spanish society, for example during the coronavirus pandemic, when they launched the #OurMejorVictoria campaign, with which they raised 14 million euros to help those affected.
