Manises celebrates III Mental Health Day

During the event, the Service for the Care and Monitoring of People with Mental Illnesses (SASEM) of Manises will be presented.

Manises, October 11, 2024 – On October 24, at the Manises House of Culture, as part of World Mental Health Day, celebrated on October 10, the III Municipal Mental Health Day will be held – a pedagogical event aimed at eliminating the social stigma around mental illness.

The day, organized by the Service for the Care and Monitoring of People with Mental Illnesses (SASEM), will last approximately three hours, starting at 5:15 pm and ending at 8:00 pm. The program will feature two presentations from professionals: the first, starting at 5:15 p.m., on employment and training, and the second, following, on creative treatments for people with serious mental illness.

The second part of the day will begin with a presentation of SASEM Manises, a special service of the Social Services Department of the Manises City Council, which includes a social educator and a psychologist. Its functions include interventions based on comprehensive support for people with serious mental health problems, in synergy with existing community resources, to achieve their integration and ensure their permanence in their social environment.

Finally, it will conclude with a first-person impressions panel, an opportunity to learn more about the challenges that people with serious mental health problems face in different areas of their lives, their self-esteem and how they perceive the outside world.

At the same time, and as part of the commemoration of World Mental Health Day from October 21 to 25, those who wish will be able to visit the art exhibition “Projected Imagination” by Roberto Cepero Rodriguez at the Casa de Culture. The author, in his works reminiscent of cubist figures and patterns, takes the viewer to the source of his inspiration: a psychotic crisis that changed his view of the world and his creative process. The exhibition is intended to be a reminder that art can be a refuge for those going through difficult times, a way to free themselves and find themselves.
