The vaccination campaign against influenza and Covid begins for 200,000 Navarreans.

This Monday, the Ministry of Health launched a joint vaccination campaign against influenza and Covid-19 for more than 200,000 people in Navarre. Specifically, People aged 60 and over are being encouraged to get vaccinated. (more than 185,000 people in Navarre) and those with medical conditions considered high risk (more than 7500). This Monday, all health centers in the Foral community began administering doses against these respiratory viruses to people who applied for vaccination. Over the past few weeks, the Ministry of Health has been sending SMS messages to the target population, giving priority to older age groups (people aged 80 years and over) to book appointments.

The aim of this vaccination, as stated by the Institute of Public and Professional Health of Navarra (ISPLN), is to strengthen the protection of the most vulnerable people, as well as health and social staff, in order to reduce morbidity and mortality, as well as the impact of these diseases on the level of care. The promotion will last until November 29.although after this date, people who meet the criteria (newly pregnant women, new patients with risk factors, international travelers considered at risk) or who could not be immunized during the initially established period will continue to be vaccinated.

The goals set by ISPLN are to achieve 75% vaccination coverage. among the population over 60 years of age, with a particular emphasis on those living in institutions, and 60% among pregnant women and people at risk of developing diseases.

Computer incident

The start of this year’s campaign was marked by a computer incident that delayed vaccinations for some people at several health centers. In particular, the department reported that “a specific incident was detected on the data server early this morning. After the message, the issue was resolved in about 30 minutes.”
