No two shows are the same: The 2024 Golden Globe Awards, airing on CBS on Jan. 7, saw a 50 percent increase in viewership over the previous year, averaging 9.4 million viewers. In contrast, the 29th Critics’ Choice Awards, which will air on The CW exactly one week later on January 14, averaged just 1 million viewers. That meant the Critics Choice Awards drew about a tenth of the Globes’ viewership.

But despite the smaller audience for the Critics Choice Awards, luxury brands are still getting plenty of media attention by dressing stars at the show, the latest results from the 2024 Red Carpet Power Rankings show.

At the Critics Choice Awards, the No. 1 fashion brand on the red carpet was Prada, which, according to Launchmetrics and Hollywood Reporter in an exclusive partnership that tracks the buzz brands and stars create on the red carpet during awards season.

Prada’s $5.1 million in Critics Choice earnings is certainly an impressive figure for broadcasting a show that attracted only a fraction of the Globes audience. Notably, this isn’t just a 10th of what the biggest brand made at the Globes. There, the leading luxury brand was Dior, whose media impact value (MIV) was $15 million, according to Launchmetrics. (The data company’s proprietary MIV metric measures the monetary value of the cumulative brand impact of online and social media posts and editorial.)

The numbers reveal an important fact about red carpet coverage: While viewers may not be watching, they will still be part of the conversation about who wore what.

This week, TPP and the latest Red Carpet Power Rankings results from Launchmetrics also reveal who made the top five women and top five men on the Critics Choice Awards red carpet in terms of earned brand exposure: Margot Robbie in Balmain ($2.5 million MIV) And May December’Charles Melton in Valentino ($751K MIV) leads the way.

Perhaps most surprising of all, which stars are so influential that they made each list twice? Check out the results, as well as noteworthy details for each category, below.

TOP FASHION BRANDS: PRADA AT THE TOP

Prada, the night’s winner, dressed five stars at the Critics Choice Awards: Dua Lipa, Tom Holland, Brie Larson, Brit Marling and Young Masino. Which one boasts 88.6 million Instagram followers? Best Song Nominee Barbie“Dance the Night”, of course. Dua Lipa’s huge fan base undoubtedly contributed to Prada’s top spot in the charts, while social media was also raving about Holland’s dapper three-piece suit.

Hot on Prada’s heels were Louis Vuitton (which dressed Emma Stone, Bradley Cooper and Jodie Foster); Armani (seen on Emily Blunt, Carey Mulligan, Paul Giamatti and Brendan Fraser) and Dolce & Gabbana (wearing Jennifer Aniston, Oprah Winfrey and John Krasinski).

Rounding out the top five was Balmain, which created a special red dress for Robbie, the star and producer of 2023’s biggest film, helping the beloved Parisian label earn an MIV of $2.5 million.

TOP 5 WOMEN: MARGO ROBBIE IN THE LEADER

Robbie and writer-director Greta Gerwig (wearing a Molly Goddard dress) created a viral moment when host Chelsea Handler brought them on stage to give an impromptu acceptance speech for Best Comedy Film, a category that was awarded before broadcast. Combine all these elements and the attention undoubtedly helped shine a light on her pink-trimmed Balmain dress, catapulting Robbie to the top of the list of actresses who earned the most media attention that night for their red carpet looks.

Equally interesting is the fact that Emily Blunt brought strength in not one, but two categories. Wearing her red beaded Giorgio Armani Privé gown, Blunt brought home a $2.1 million MIV for the legendary Italian design house and her platinum and diamond jewelry from Tiffany & Co., including a stunning pair of fan earrings from Jean Schlumberger , brought in an MIV of $1. million.

Emma Stone won the nomination for Best Actress Poor things It was the perfect chance to take another look at her custom Louis Vuitton one-shoulder dress and catapult the actress into the top five rankings with an MIV of $1.3 million. The red carpet experts were delighted with the second RustinColman Domingo of Valentino Haute Couture showed up in a mustard-colored suit and a textured shoulder coat, both from the fall 2023 haute couture collection. “I feel like a king,” Domingo said on the red carpet, and social media apparently agreed, putting the nominated actor in second place on the list with $616,000 in media impact value. Meanwhile, Domingo’s gold Christian Louboutin boots earned their own conversation on social media, helping the actor also take fifth place on the list: “These shoes drove him crazy,” one user responded on an Instagram posted by Wayman + Micah. Outstanding stylists Domingo.

But who topped this list? May December’Charles Melton, also in Valentino, in his spring 2024 crimson ready-to-wear suit, earned more than 41,000 likes on his Instagram account (versus 5.5 million followers) and an MIV of $751,000. Brooch Tiffany & Co. Jonah Krasinki’s iconic Jean Schlumberger Flames of Paris design, which she wore on a Dolce & Gabbana evening suit, earned enough talk to put the actor-director in third place with $317,000 in the MIV, while Matt Bomer rounded out the list in his electric blue Berluti tuxedo, a bold color that brought MIV $180,000.

TOP WATCHES AND JEWELRY BRANDS: TIFFANY & CO. ASSESSMENTS

Tiffany & Co., Cartier and Bulgari continued their dominance that began with the Golden Globes, while other brands shifted and two new entries made their move.

America Ferrera and Rachel Brosnahan wore Pomellato jewelry to the Critics Choice Awards, which totaled $379,000, earning the brand a spot on the awards show’s latest list of the top 10 watch and jewelry brands. But an even bigger surprise was the appearance of Vacheron Constantin on the list, beating Omega by just $1,000 in the MIV. Vacheron Constantin has most often worn Ke Hai Quan, while Omega has dressed many other stars, including Melton, Domingo, Barry Keoghan, Nicholas Braun and Bill Hader.

However, it was perhaps Elsa Peretti’s brooch that allowed Tiffany & Co. keep your top spot on the list. Jeremy Allen White, winner of the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Actor, wore Peretti’s poppy-inspired “Amapola” brooch in sterling silver and red silk with a Saint Laurent pinstripe suit by Anthony Vaccarello—and the result is a crimson-red background dark pinstripe jacket on stage? This undoubtedly contributed greatly to Tiffany & Co.’s success. $1.9 million in MIV.

FIVE TOP ACCESSORY BRANDS: CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN RULES

Worn by stars like Lily Gladstone, Barry Keoghan and Quinta Brunson, Christian Louboutin still tops the accessories list after two awards ceremonies, earning a $662K MIV from the Critics Choice Awards (after earning a 3.2 million dollars at the Globes show). But there’s a new contender in the category: Oliver Peoples, an eyewear brand that’s making a big push this awards season.

BearBest Supporting Actress winner Ayo Edebiri, Ke Hui Quan and American fictionJeffrey Wright was among the stars who wore the brand’s shades and sunglasses at the event, but none boasted the social media power of Billie Eilish, whose Instagram followers number an incredible 110 million. It’s this influence that has seen the eyewear brand squeeze into the list of primarily high-performance footwear brands loved by stylish women and men alike.

Next Red Carpet Power Rankings: Results from the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards will be released early next week, and the next awards show to track will be the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, set for Sunday 4 February, and will air on CBS.
