Another brilliant Formula 1 performance for Franco Colapinto, finishing 10th at the US Grand Prix and improving again.

Franco Colapinto speaks after the US Grand Prix

“I’m pleased, we did a good job. We made a small jump compared to yesterday, the changes we made and what we worked on with the team were felt. They deserved this result. I would have liked to have been ninth, I was trying my best to catch Lawson. The pace was very good and in the open air we were strongest in the middle of the grid, on both the hard and medium tyres. More than positive. The lap was fast until almost the end until the Frenchman Este (Esteban Ocon) took it away from me, annoyingly. Why do they go into the pits and rush, burning the tires? Help the planet, they are wasting tires, it takes them two laps to the pits. Well then. It was also a very good race. We have a good rhythm and we are showing that we are very strong. This is the most positive thing to strive for in the two remaining races in America. The team didn’t want to start on hard tires, so I told them: “Come on, buddy.” Let’s take a hard rubber and make it longer and see what happens. They didn’t want to, and I convinced them, so maybe next year, if I don’t have a place, I’ll become a strategic engineer. I’m glad, of course, it was a little risky, but everything ended well for us. I think because I knew and thought that we had a very good rhythm and I wanted to be out in the open air a little bit to show the rhythm that we had, so I’m very happy.”
