Film review – Maternal Instinct
Dans ce nouveau long métrage du Français Benoit Delhomme, Jessica Chastain etc. Anne Hathaway It is set in a charming American suburb in 1960. An American remake of the 2018 Franco-Belgian film Duels, recently adapted from Barbara Abel’s novel Derriere la haine.
Alice (Jessica Chastain) and Celine (Anne Hathaway) are friends and girlfriends, all their relatives. One day, Alice surprised Max, Celine’s child, balancing on the balustrade of their balcony. She was a beautiful courier to prevent the mother-garcon, she could not empecher la chute mortel. For a few weeks after lunch, Céline seems to be causing depression par l’évenement. But they have a doucereux look, so they chose a more shade. This is what Alice thought all the time, who is ready for the most cheerful intentions for her best friend.
He chose est sûre, Benoît Delhomme, a cinematographer as well as a director of photography, who has proven his expertise in drawing up plans. Set against a faux backdrop, these images highlight the parfitte aesthetic of this American suburb. Le recit, lui, reste bien difficile à cerner.
If the role of genres and casual sexism in 1960 combined with central thematic works, reading an interest in God, came drama. Petit à petit, perfume thriller prend alors le dessus. And the questions are confused: Craintes d’Alice, à la personnalité nervous and anxious, sont-elles Fondées or se laisse-t-elle just an importer from the imagination?
Thanks to compelling performances, the two actresses, Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway, seem to maintain a pleasant tension. However, the path to the denouement is neither without any clichés of the genre, nor without a certain trust.
