  • Carlos Sainz took his second win of the season at the Mexican Grand Prix, where he showed very strong pace and excellent tire management to control the race.
  • The Ferrari driver started from pole position but a slide on the long main straight saw him drop to second, just behind Max Verstappen’s Red Bull.
  • The Spaniard didn’t give up, but began putting pressure on Verstappen until he overtook him with heavy braking on the inside of Turn 1 on lap 9.
  • Carlos then applied a relentless pace in the first stint and was 8 seconds ahead of Leclerc and 14 seconds ahead of Norris before the pit stop.
  • In the second stage, the Ferrari driver committed himself to using the advantage he already had to get to the finish line and take the second victory of the year and the fourth of his Formula 1 career.
