Sacchi, master of offside: “Ancelotti called me at least seven times”
Old acquaintances Carlo Ancelotti and Arrigo Sacchi have a special relationship.. Both are considered the two most important coaches in the history of Milan, the team with which they achieved victory. Sacchi was also Madrid’s sporting director for a time, and Ancelotti’s career with the white team is well known.
In addition, their excellent relationship developed when Sacchi took over Ancelotti as coach of the history teamwho dominated the world of football at will with his revamped tactics, suffocating pressure and way of closing down space, leaving opponents offside time and time again.
Ahead of Milan’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid, Sacchi, who has undoubtedly had a great influence on many managers, spoke about his relationship with Ancelotti and the match. “Carlo is a wonderful person, he called me at least seven times these days.. He is smart and modest. He was the first player I asked from Berlusconi. Milan finished fifth and Ancelotti’s knees did not seem to offer much guarantee. I told him that with him we would win the championship, and that’s how it happened,” the Italian said in an interview with La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
Sacchi also weighed in on the case of Leao, whose future at the club is in doubt: “I’m just saying that I treated all my players the same. Of course, Van Basten was the strongest, but I never made concessions. Between a good player and a reliable one, I choose the latter. I just hope that Fonseca achieved this not only technically, but also mentally. If there is not complete harmony, you will never be able to create a valuable team.”
