Pagani Utopia propellers are already more expensive than a car

In a luxury supercar, everything needs to be equal parts exclusive and efficient. This makes the components used in its manufacture practically a work of art. The Pagani Utopia Roadster is the hundredth example of exclusivity taken to the extreme, and it justifies that 2.5% of the three million euros that each unit costs is allocated exclusively to its equipment.

Horacio Pagani, obsessed with detail. Pagani is one of the most exclusive luxury supercar brands on the market, not only designing its cars to appeal to the most purist combustion engine millionaires, but also aiming to take the level of detailing to the extreme.

We’re no longer talking about the most expensive leather covering the seats and dashboard, or the luxury of red carbon fiber trim on the body, with the lines of the fiber frame aligned throughout the car. Horacio Pagani’s obsession with detail goes so far that each of the 130 units of the Utopia Roadster that will be produced has its own set of screws, signed by the brand and engraved with the chassis number of the car on which it is installed.

More than 80,000 euros in screws. As Gérard Farre of Car Vlogs explained in one of his videos, the Pagani Utopia Roadster’s propellers are made from grade 7 titanium, making the car’s total weight just 1,280 kg and strong enough to handle 863 hp. equipped with a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine. Each of these screws is valued at approximately 80 euros, and the average Pagani car requires about 1,000 screws.

This isn’t something new for Pagani.. Pagani’s passion for detail at this level is nothing new. According to Top GearThe Pagani Huayra also had this detail on its screws, ensuring that even the most hidden screw is imprinted with the unique DNA of each car it produces.

The Pagani Huayra used 1,400 titanium screws, which totals around 112,000 euros. In other words, for exactly what it costs to put together parts of a Pagani Utopia or Huayra roadster, you can buy a Porsche Macan, BMW 5 Series or Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Paint the fence on both sides. Horacio Pagani is not the only CEO of a large, ambitious brand who has demonstrated an extreme obsession with detail. Engineers involved in the development of Apple’s first Macintosh 128k signed the case from the inside. A place where it is unlikely that any user will see these signatures. But they were like Pagani’s signature on his screws.
