Barça with star (2-5)

FC Barcelona seems intractable. It doesn’t matter if the scene is mythical, cold, or the fans are under a lot of pressure. Nothing scares this team, which is true to its idea of the game and continues to rise. Because Hansi Flick’s team had a difficult task, but this Wednesday they defeated Red Star Belgrade at the Rajko Mitic Stadium (2-5). The Little Maracanã, packed to the brim, saw a brace from Lewandowski, while goals from Inigo Martinez, Rafinha and Fermin left Vladan Milojevic’s men in vain, who tried and even drew a draw thanks to Silas, but they were overwhelmed. Thus, at the end of this day, Barça continues to rise in the general classification and is already among the first 8 positions, gaining nine points out of a possible twelve in four days.

Inigo Martinez opens a jar

As expected, the pitch showed what was expected: Barça with dominance, control and possession, and Red Star who stayed far behind and looked for their opportunities through speed and counter-attacks. It remained to be seen which of the two ideas would win the game in Belgrade.

In fact, the match started with a goal disallowed due to offside against Red Star, which is becoming a common occurrence at Can Barça this season (min 4). But then the game shifted towards Marko Ilic’s goal. With absolute control, Barça’s first goal came from a set piece – a part of the game that also works. This time, Rafinha took a free-kick in the penalty area, and Inigo Martinez opened the scoring with an excellent header with a precise cross (0-1, min 12).

However, with Barça in control of the match, Silis took advantage of Red Star’s quick play and first touch, who this time played the back of the culés to end the draw (1-1, min. 27). Despite everything, Barça did not get nervous in this scenario and showed patience. Almost at half-time, Lewandowski, after Raphinha’s shot hit the base of the post, seemed to take advantage of the rebound and advance the culés again (1-2, min 43).

Kunde’s most assistant appears

The goal and the result did justice to what we saw on the field in the first half. But the first minutes of the restart also brought the confrontation much closer. Because Lewandowski scored his second goal of the evening, Barça’s 700th European Cup goal, from Kounde’s cross and shot from the far post (1-3, min 53). Two minutes later, Kunde’s new assist also ended in a goal, although this time it was Rafinha who finished first (and from outside the penalty area) (1-4, min 55).

A goal that broke a record that had stood for 64 years, since Barça had not scored four or more goals in three consecutive Champions League matches since the 1959/60 season. Already a very difficult score for Red Star. And that was no longer possible when Kounde’s new assist, his third of the evening, was completed by Fermin, who completed the goal (1-5, min 76).

Felicio Milson, however, reduced the gap (2-5, min 84), but the result was already too clear in favor of the “cules”, who added three more points. Thus, Barça once again demonstrated that they continue to take a firm step. In Europe there are already 9 out of 12, but they don’t end there. The next challenge is Brest.
