Electronic Arts announces the closure of servers for 9 games

To a greater or lesser extent, whether we like it or not, we live in a digital age and are dependent on technology. Video games are also related to this, especially those that have online functions. This is why it is becoming increasingly common for servers to close, which sometimes means the very end of the game in question, as happened recently with Disputes between The Crew and Ubisoft.

Now it’s the turn of another great company. And that’s what Electronic Arts announced the closure of servers for 9 games. The truth is that in this case it does not seem as dramatic as in the previously mentioned example, since most of them are annual saga titles, which in any case you can continue to access their offline features if you still have there are works. . .

Electronic Arts announces the closure of servers for 9 games

As explained by a video game industry analyst MauroNLP its Twitter account lists EA games whose servers will close soon, and date in which they will do it.

  • F1 2011 (March 21)
  • F1 2012 (March 21)
  • F1 2013 (March 21)
  • F1 2014 (March 21)
  • F1 Racing Stars (March 21)
  • Micro Machine World Series (March 21)
  • Rocket Arena (March 21)
  • Madden NFL 20 (8/4)
  • Kim Kardashian Hollywood (8/4)

The top five on the list, all from the Formula 1 franchise, belong to Xbox 360 generationand the next three (Micromachines World Series, Rocket Arena and Madden NFL 20) appeared later, Xbox One generation. Finally, the last one is the mobile title.

The bloodiest incident of all is Rocket Arena, a three-on-three multiplayer shooting action game that was released relatively recently in 2020 and quickly dropped in price after poor reception. A few months ago, Electronic Arts confirmed the closure of its servers and since then also left digital sales, so only those who have it can play it. Likewise, starting March 21, no one will be able to play it anymore. In a case similar to The Crew, since it is an online-only game, it will become completely unusable once the multiplayer servers are shut down.
