iOS 19 will feature some pretty disappointing emojis

Like every year, Unicode Consortium, is responsible for deciding what new emoji characters will appear on our smartphones and other devices in the future, the company has just announced what these new characters we will enjoy in iOS 19. Yes, there’s just under a year left before you can use them on WhatsApp, iMessage and any of the messaging apps you use on your Apple phone.

Just a few hours ago, eight new emoji characters were revealed, including a furry creature that we assume will refer to Bigfoot or the Terrible Snowman, Distorted Face, Battle Cloud, Apple Pit, Orca, Trombone, Mountain. collapse and treasure chest.

Come on, emojis you’re probably looking forward to seeing on yours. iPhone and what are you going to use left and right.

These are the new iOS 19 emojis.

In addition to supernatural monsters, fruit, musical instruments, and what appears to be a classic comic book battle symbol, we also have new representations of skin colors for some emoticons.

The Unicode Consortium, as you can see above, has also released some images of what the emoji will look like. Be careful, it’s important to clarify at this point that the Unicode Consortium only creates code for emoji, and Apple designers will create their own Apple-style version of each character when the project is complete. Unicode 17 standard. This is why the emojis are not the same as we show them in these images, but much more similar to what you can see now when you use your iPhone keyboard.

And that’s why, even if they are approved sometime next fall, it will take Apple a while to roll out the new characters, and we may not see them until spring 2026 if Apple maintains its normal emoji release schedule, which is: with iOS 19 has proven itself well among our devices and the iPhone 17 (and who knows iPhone 17 slim) giving war.

There’s still time

Think about all these new iconsalthough they have already been shown, they should appear after Apple in 2025 introduces the 16 Unicode characters that were approved a few months ago in this very 2024 and which we told you about at the beginning of the year. These include baggy face, fingerprint, bare tree, tuber, harp, spade, and splash.

In fact, the new emojis that we were able to see on our devices from the Cupertino company came from hand iOS 17.4 update which was launched in March 2024: lime, edible brown mushroom, phoenix, broken chain, head nod gesture, the same gesture but denying something, and a little more.

We may have reached a point where we really no more emoticons needed and these characters’ bubble is about to burst. Do you use more than 10 of the hundreds available on the iOS keyboard?
