MotoGP: Pecco Bagnaia celebrated, Jorge Martin did business and the definition was expanded
The determination of the 2024 MotoGP season will come to the last resort. The Italian arrived in Barcelona 24 points behind Martin.. Without any advantage, the official Ducati team rider intended to win it all and then wait. The other one doesn’t fit. And he showed all of his pedigree as a huge champion, first by taking pole (24th career and sixth of the season) and then winning the sprint. And he didn’t hesitate for a second when he was overtaken by Martinator at the first corner and quickly recovered to lead comfortably until the end while Martin battled with Pecco’s teammate Enea Bastianini for second place.
When Banaya ran away, Martin didn’t want to take any risks. That’s why, when the Beast passed him on the last lap, he didn’t put up much of a fight.. He took third place and gave up five points in the fight. The Pramac rider will therefore start Sunday with a 19-unit lead and is just one step away from the title. Martin can rest easy this Sunday because if the Italian wins the main event, ninth place will be enough for the Spaniard to celebrate. The cards have been played and the future Aprilia rider has the best hand.
“I feel good, it was a great fight with Aenea. As always, I went for a regular run. I tried to walk around him again as he passed me. But hey, I’m happy with the goal, and tomorrow I’ll have the same plan to try to achieve the goal that I want,” Martin said.
Pecco, having achieved his seventh sprint success of the year, began lowering the flags. “The work is finished for today. We must try again tomorrow. Jorge was very good. It seems impossible to me, but I have to do my job,” the reigning champion said until now.
