Tobacco remains main risk factor this type of tumor. “There are 735 reasons to quit smoking. This is a cancer that in 80-85% of cases is associated only with tobacco,” says Pedro Pastor, president of the AECC in Caceres.

This is a very difficult cancer to treat. (only 35% of cases can be operated on)including from a psychological point of view. “The word cancer always implies fear. If we add the name “lung cancer”, taking into account its survival rate and the complications associated with it, there will be much more uncertainty,” explains Elena Rodriguez, psycho-oncologist.

To quit smoking, medical professionals, of course, also recommend new medications, because they “block the feeling in your brain that you need to smoke, and you can control your mono very well,” says Juan Carretero, a doctor at the Diana Clinic.
