Digi Launches New WiFi 7 Router with 10Gbps Fiber Optic, Zte F8748

Digi was the first operator in Spain to introduce the latest generation Wi-Fi router in version 7. The company did this in February by updating the router free of charge for the first 1,000 customers of the fastest 10Gbps fiber optic. This is the Zte F8748Q router, which just a few days earlier the Chinese manufacturer presented at the MWC mobile congress in Barcelona. The leading model with everything you could want, from Wi-Fi 7, its three 6 GHz bands, huge channel width up to 320 MHz and MLO carrier aggregation. Unfortunately, we later discovered that the model provided by Zte Digi came without the 6GHz radio frequency, a strange patch that can only be explained by promises to be first.

Patches aside, as we can read on the forum, Digi has started installing its final model with Wi-Fi 7 for its Pro-Digi fiber optic. This is Zte F8748 (yes, the same code, but without the letter Q).

This is a slightly simpler model, originally designed as a dual-band. Thus, it does not have 6 GHz, but only 2.4 and 5 GHz, although it is well equipped with four MIMO antennas in each band, allowing it to achieve theoretical speeds of up to 5.8 and 1.4 Gbps respectively in each These can be added if you are using a WiFi 7 compatible device thanks to MLO.

Visually, the router is very different from the equipment usually used with Digi. This time it comes in the form of a cylindrical tower, similar to the usual design of 5G FWA routers such as Vodafone’s GigaCube or Movistar’s 5G Radio Fixed Access.

Another difference is that it has one less Ethernet port, although there is a 10G port, thanks to which we can get the fastest speed that the Digi 10Gbps is capable of offering.
