Spanish tennis player Rafa Nadal retired from tennis at the age of 38. Mallorca entered the elite 23 years ago (2001) and has been collecting successes until this Tuesday, the date of the final point.
What happened?
- Nadal planned to say goodbye to tennis, setting himself the goal of winning his sixth Davis Cup. But he failed. Yesterday he lost to Van de Zandschulp in the tournament opener against the Netherlands.
- And, despite the point achieved by Carlos Alcaraz, the Murcians and Marcel Granollers lost in the doubles, thereby confirming the final farewell to the legendary tennis player.
Their victories (1080) and defeats (227):
- There are a total of 92 trophies on the shelf, of which 22 correspond to major tournaments and 63 to clay courts.
- He is the second man with the most Grand Slam titles (22), two less than Serbian Novak Djokovic and two more than Swiss Roger Federer, who has been his main rival for many years.
- He is the overall champion of Roland Garros, with a total of 14 titles.
One suggestion: “Among all of you, you have always pushed me to continue fighting. But you need to accept the situation. I feel very privileged. I can only thank life. I made myself hobby my profession.”
