Helmut Marko reveals a big problem for Red Bull F1 in Las Vegas that could impact the World Championship

In the increasingly sophisticated Formula 1, all details matter, and even more so the rear wing, which in some cases has been the subject of controversy throughout the season, such as McLaren’s famous flexible wing at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. However, this time it is a case that could directly affect the World Cup for Red Bull.

A mistake that can cost you dearly

There is one element at the Las Vegas Speedway that stands out above the rest: straight line speed. This is the problem currently faced by the Red Bull team, which did not bring smaller rear wings that would have given them a higher top speed.

Because of this, during free practice they were 7 km/h slower than Mercedes or McLaren. For this reason, the Red Bull consultant wanted to explain that they realized this error during Free Practice 1 and that in trying to solve it so as not to lose so much time on the straight, they performed worse in the remaining sections.

“We don’t have another rear spoiler… A smaller rear spoiler, like we see on our competitors, would certainly be more useful.– said the Red Bull advisor.

“We have already reduced the aileron, removed the flap, because in the first session we lost a lot in the third sector, but then we lost in three sectors.“, he continued.

“Unfortunately, we do not have a smaller size. So now it’s about finding the right balance because once we get one or two laps in, I think we can maintain the pace in terms of speed in the long term.– Helmut Marko concluded.
