Prisa Media’s response via a press release, which points out what Morris said are “baseless statements”, clarifies the relationship with Canal1, which Morris calls a “purchase”. “Canal 1 holds a licensing agreement with Caracol Primera Cadena Radial Colombiana SA for the provision of audiovisual content, fully complying with all existing laws. This type of collaboration is similar to what Channel 1 has previously developed with other providers, such as NBCUniversal-Telemundo, CM&, NTC and Televisivision. Indeed, Channel 1, as concessionaire of the Colombian state, has various suppliers of audiovisual content.

Prisa Media underlines the seriousness of Morris’s allegations and accusations. “We express our concern about the allegations made by the Director of the Public Media System, which irresponsibly suggest hidden interests behind the information and opinions published by our media. Such allegations pose a threat to freedom of expression and the press, fundamental principles protected by the Constitution. We reiterate our commitment to independent, rigorous journalism that respects the democratic norms and values ​​that guide our work,” he concluded.
