The Equality Delegation of Cordoba City Council organized a day of activities on Monday, December 2, to provide visible support for the fight against HIV and to improve understanding of the disease as a global public health problem to mark World Health Day. . fight against AIDS.
According to the consistory, an information table on HIV will be held at 17:00 at the Antonio Gala Central Library in Ronda del Marrubial. This table will be chaired by the Territorial Council’s Health and Consumer Protection Delegation and the City Council’s Health and Consumer Protection Delegation, with the cooperation of the Iemakae Association.
On the same day, December 2, at 19:00, a round table will be held, which will be preceded by the viewing of “Meeting with Pepe Espaliu and a portrait of an AIDS patient.” The round table will be attended by the city council delegate for health, consumption and youth, Cynthia Bustos; Ignacio Pérez Velero, physician at the Reina Sofía Hospital and president of the HIV and STI group of the Andalusian Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology; Oscar Fernandez, contemporary of Pepe Espaliou, as well as general coordinator of the Equality movement and secretary of the LGTB table of the Consistory Aristides Bermejo.
Deputy Mayor for Equality Marian Aguilar noted that in conjunction with World AIDS Day, which is celebrated on Sunday, December 1, “it is positive that we are focusing on this issue and delving into it in terms of what policy measures necessary for health promotion, prevention, early diagnosis, improving the quality of life of those affected and combating stigma.” Aguilar noted that the effort was “driven by concerns about rising cases of sexually transmitted infections.”
