City health authority Castile and Leon confirmed the presence of a case of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF), caused by a tick bite in an elderly man hospitalized in Salamanca, sources in the regional administration said this Saturday.

The patient is in stable situation, within the limits of severity, in the Salamanca Hospital and with appropriate isolation and protection measures for such situations.

The case was confirmed by the Ministry of Health after tests carried out by the National Center of Microbiology of the Carlos III Institute of Health, located in Majadahonda (Madrid).
