A total of 23 boys and girls accompanying a minor who tested positive for monkeypox in Seville last week have been vaccinated by the Ministry of Health, leaving only two to undergo this preventive measure.

Health sources told EFE that another child is scheduled to be vaccinated this Monday, to cancel all vaccinations in the class, pending the development of both the minor and the two adults in the family environment, three of whom have tested positive.

Due to the possible impact on the school environment, the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs and the Ministry of Educational Development called the parents of the minor’s classmates last Saturday to inform them of the activities that will be carried out at the center, as well as preventive measures against this disease.

A reassuring message was also conveyed to fathers and mothers, as experience with this virus has shown that the disease is usually mild.

The mode of transmission of Mpox is mainly through prolonged and close physical contact or through the secretions of an infected person, according to the Ministry, which clarified that a person without symptoms cannot transmit the virus, so the likelihood of infection at school is high. ecology is low.

As a preventive measure, it is recommended that students in the affected class increase measures such as frequent hand hygiene, reducing social interaction as much as possible (attendance does not include class attendance) and consistent use of a mask until May 12th.
