Apple Intelligence, Apple’s artificial intelligence, will not be compatible with every iPhone, iPad, and Mac on the market.
Apple stylishly unveiled Apple Intelligence at WWDC24, an AI that is fully integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. However, Not all devices that support these operating systems will be able to use Apple Intelligence.Apple’s artificial intelligence will only be available in the most powerful models.
What features does Apple Intelligence offer?
Apple Intelligence offers a variety of features on supported devices. Apple’s AI has arrived as a seamlessly integrated operating system to make it really useful for users. Here are its main features:
- Write with smart tools: Apple Intelligence provides new writing tools to help you find the right words almost anywhere. With expanded language capabilities, you can summarize an entire lecture or a long conversation in seconds.
- Prioritize notifications: Apple Intelligence can read and prioritize your notifications, all privately, and even summarize them if they’re too long.
- Priority messages in Mail– Time-sensitive messages will appear at the top of your inbox, such as an invitation that expires today or a reminder to check in for a flight this afternoon.
- Images created by you– Create fun and original images in seconds with Image Playground right in your apps. Create a completely new image based on a description, suggested concepts, and even a person from your photo library.
- Genmoji: You can create a fully personalized emoticon with a short description that can be edited to suit your taste.
- Image of the Rod– Turn your sketch into a linked image in the Notes app. Use your finger or Apple Pencil to draw a circle around your sketch, and Image Wand will analyze the surrounding content and create an additional image.
- Personalized movie– Create a personalized keepsake movie right in the Photos app by simply entering a description. Apple Intelligence will find the best photos and videos that match your search.
- Clear– Apple Intelligence recognizes background objects, so you can remove them with one tap and improve your photos.
- Siri: Siri now knows your device and what’s on your screen better, can understand language better, knows you better, and updates information accordingly, even across apps.
- Integrated ChatGPT: OpenAI’s ChatGPT is integrated into Siri and Apple Intelligence writing tools as it will improve some queries, including questions about photos or documents.
iPhones compatible with Apple Intelligence
Apple has announced that only the iPhone 15 Pro with the A17 Pro chip will be able to use Apple Intelligence, although all four iPhone 16 models will also be compatible:

Mac computers compatible with Apple Intelligence
No Mac with an Intel chip will be able to run Apple Intelligence, only Macs with an Apple Silicon chip will be able to do so. This is the full list:

As with Mac computers, only iPads with an M-series processor will be compatible with Apple Intelligence. Here’s the full list:

Devices without Apple Intelligence support
While Apple Intelligence will be integrated into Apple’s operating systems and will be a fundamental part of Siri, there are Apple devices that will not, at least for now, have the company’s AI. That includes devices that are compatible with Siri. At least at launch, Apple Intelligence will not be compatible with the following devices:
- HomePod
- Apple Watch
- Apple Vision Pro
Apple Intelligence Gets to WorkIn fact, it will initially only be available in the US. However, over time, Apple’s AI will evolve and will likely reach more devices.
