Amanda Seyfried’s silver Met Gala 2024 look started with Taylor Swift and granola
Amanda Seyfried walked down the steps of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art last night in a full silver ensemble, including a metallic wig with romantic curls and a diamond ivy crown. But one bright color stood out in this shining sea of ice: the violet on her lips.
Embodying the 2024 Garden of Time Gala’s dress code, Seyfried used floral elements both on her dress and as part of her glam, with the help of celebrity makeup artist Genevieve Herr. “Genevieve and I collaborated closely on the makeup look, which was inspired by the Prada dress,” says Seyfried. bazaar. “The lip color represents one of the flowers blooming in The Garden of Time, which is also scattered throughout (my) dress, and the silvery shimmer of the rest of my makeup symbolizes the dying garden (in) the story.” (The dress code was inspired by the 1962 short story of the same name by English writer J. G. Ballard.)
The floral theme plus the cool pale pink and metallic floral appliques on Seyfried’s dress made the Met Gala the perfect event for the bright purple lipstick that Herr had been keeping in her kit but never found the right time to use it. until she saw Mamma Mia! star dress “Amanda’s lips were the main focus of the whole look. It’s a different shade than the one she usually prefers, which is purple with a blue undertone,” Herr explains.
“Because (the spring Costume Institute exhibition) is about Sleeping Beauties, I wanted it to look like Amanda was sleeping and then suddenly she wakes up and her lips are the color of the flowers in the garden,” she says. “It was an awakening in this beautiful garden.”
To balance out the shine of Seyfried’s dress, Herr left the actor’s face matte. Since the lips were the main focus, Herr subtly highlighted the eyes with soft gray shadows to “give the eyes a little shape.” She then added a hint of silver shimmer, lots of mascara, and some false lashes for added definition.
“Face primer is critical after skincare because it’s what keeps your makeup intact and allows it to last well into the evening without using a lot of powder,” says Herr. She also sent Seyfried to the Met with a pack of blotting templates for touching up her T-zone.
To fully prep the star’s skin for the big fashion night, Herr used convenient skincare products like the Shani Darden Facial Sculpting Magic Wand, Lancôme Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate and Lancôme Absolue Soft Cream. Herr says Seyfried also had her own ideas for the preparations, adding that the actor likes to have fun before the annual event.
“Oh my God, Amanda is a lot of fun while we get ready,” says the artist. “She brought lots of natural snacks like granola and played her own music – this time it was Taylor Swift because it relaxes her.”
Herr adds, “Amanda was telling us about the farm, the kids, and how they were going to have a peacock on the farm. She is truly an amazing girl and very down to earth. “The farm helps her be very resilient.”
