An Oxford scientist believes he has evidence that the universe is a Matrix-like simulation.

You may have thought at some point that the universe as such does not exist. That it is actually dreaming all the time, or, like in the Matrix movies, that it is all some kind of simulation. This idea has probably occurred to almost everyone at some point, especially after the first movie came out.

Well, that’s exactly it. This is the opinion of Oxford University scientist Marcus Du Sautoy. Only in his case he lacked imagination and decided to prove it with facts. In fact, he believes there is enough evidence to show that we are, in fact, living inside a simulation.

The universe is a game

To be precise, Du Sautoy considers the universe a kind of strategy game. If you have ever used it, you will find it relatively easy to understand what he offers. And like any game, it has its own rules. The concept that It was not born from him, but from previous thinkers, such as Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz.

It should be remembered that this famous German thinker is considered one of the most important philosophers in the history of Western thought, and his contributions span a wide range of disciplines. He was most notable for his rationalist philosophy, which he shared with his contemporaries such as René Descartes and Baruch Spinoza.

In addition, Du Sautoy also acknowledged that he was influenced by other thinkers such as French theorist Roger Caillois, as reflected in the NewSciencist media. For him, The simulated universe would be a kind of great cosmic game, the development of which, at least in his opinion, would not require anyone’s intervention. This does not answer the question of who created it.

In any case, and while Du Sautoy seems to be clear that we live in a simulated universe and have evidence for it, he hasn’t really delved into the latter either, other than to combine the various theories. In fact, he’s not the first to do so. Even celebrities of his caliber Elon Musk They were playing with the possibility that this would happen through technological advances.

Other Believers in the Simulated Universe

In fact, the Tesla founder went even further (as is typical for him in all respects) and stated that You wouldn’t be surprised at all if we lived in a kind of “Matrix”.. In this regard, I argue that the technologies of an advanced civilization will be simply indistinguishable from reality. And this can happen.

In addition, the controversial futurist Ray Kurzwell, who recently assured that humans will be immortal thanks to robotics and artificial intelligence, has repeatedly spoken out in favor of this idea. To what extent is it really possible and to what extent does it correspond to the typical science fiction desire or human imagination?

At this point, the only thing you can do is speculate.
