Anime Punished for Using Google Images — Kudasai

Recently, Japanese fans of the anime “Shoshimin: How to Become Ordinary” have spotted a mistake in the series’ most recent episodein particular in Episode 7. The resolution refers to an image of an iconic place in Gifu City, which shows the “Toshi Keikan 100-Sen” monument located on the hill leading to the Kinkazan Ropeway Station.

The screenshot shared by internet users shows that the monument in the anime has an unusual shape that does not correspond to reality. The bug occurred when animators apparently took a screenshot of Google Street View and used it as it appears on the platform, without realizing the problem with Google’s camera display. This resulted in the monument, which is actually semi-circular in shape, appearing noticeably deformed, as can be seen from the red circle marked in the image.

  • «It seems that the materials will be available without having to rely on Street View.“.
  • «Finding locations using Street View keeps costs down and makes a good impression, although I think they could do a little more research.“.
  • «The use of Street View has been criticized in the Yuru camp.“.
  • «I laughed a lot haha. They only shade and do not understand the essence“.
  • «Because going to the real place costs money“.
  • «Even Japanese anime, which they are so proud of, has become so bad now. What else can they do?“.
  • «Although they appear to do so with great awareness, they have not been scouting out their own location.“.
  • «Does location search really change the number of views?“.
  • «The drawing has become more beautiful than before, but I think the quality has deteriorated. There are more and more things that are just beautiful.“.

This incident highlights the challenges and limitations facing animation studios today. especially when it comes to accurately representing real places. Fans, being more attentive than ever, are not missing these details, causing debate about the quality and authenticity of anime production.
