Apple brings its artificial intelligence to iPhone, iPad and Mac

Some of the features Apple is launching are AI-powered generative writing tools, notification summaries, and photo editing, but it won’t be until December this year that users will be able to access ChatGPT’s vast knowledge from Siri.
Users will have to wait until at least mid-2025 to use the tool to perform actions in other apps, such as creating a calendar event based on information from an image in an invitation or program.
“Apple Intelligence is the culmination of years of innovation in artificial intelligence and machine learning, integrating Apple’s generative models into the core of our products, providing users with easy-to-use personal intelligence while protecting their privacy,” Apple CEO Tim Cook. noted in the message.
Functions
Apple currently offers “writing tools” for “improving writing” with the ability to rewrite, edit, and summarize in emails, messages, websites, and third-party apps.
“With Rewrite, Apple Intelligence allows users to choose between different versions of text and adjust the tone (professional, concise, or informal) to suit the purpose and people it is intended for. The Review tool checks grammar, vocabulary and sentence structure,” the company explains in a statement.
AI also provides aggregated data in notifications and emails.
The first Apple Intelligence features are now available as a free software update for iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 and will be available in most regions with Siri and the device language set to English (United States).
Apple Intelligence is available on iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPad with the A17 Pro chip, M1 or later, and Mac with the M1 chip or later.
The company says it is working to “quickly” add support for other languages and that it will be available in other types of English in December, including Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa and the UK.
“In April (2025), the availability of additional languages will be expanded through a software update, with new languages available throughout the year. Apple Intelligence will be available in Chinese, Indian and Singaporean English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish and Vietnamese,” the company said.
Apple announces new iMac with M4 chip
Apple’s new iMac with the M4 chip and Apple Intelligence hardware, Apple’s artificial intelligence (AI), will be available November 8th.

Personal intelligence on a personal computer
Apple also emphasizes that it is entering a “new era with Apple Intelligence on Mac,” “bringing personal intelligence to the personal computer,” which will be available in American English with macOS Sequoia 15.1.
